CTW Issue #1: "Hey, I wonder if there is anything we can do about that?"

Thanks for reading my first LinkedIn newsletter! In this week's issue, I want to tell you what this newsletter will be about and what you can expect moving forward.

Who is this newsletter for?

This newsletter is really for ANYONE who has noticed a problem in our community and said to themselves, "Hey, I wonder if there is anything we can do about that?"

More specifically, it is for:

Nonprofits: Anyone in the nonprofit space, whether you run, work for, volunteer for, or are involved in any capacity with a nonprofit organization.

Mission-Driven Businesses: It's not just a catchphrase; more and more businesses are catching on to the idea that businesses can – and should – do more for the communities in which they operate.

Community Leaders and Changemakers: You don't need an LLC or 501C3 to change the world. I regularly receive calls from seemingly ordinary people who have noticed a problem or opportunity and decided to do something about it.

Why am I writing this newsletter?

While I'm still learning many incredible new things every day, in the 10+ years that I've worked with both businesses and nonprofits, I believe that I've gathered a few insights that are worth sharing. You can read a lot more about my personal mission in this article, but I'll share the most important piece here:

I foresee a world where; Individual nonprofits work strategically and in alignment with each other, with for-profit businesses, and with their communities to solve problems and improve lives; Investments in intrusive fundraising campaigns are replaced with investments in PR and marketing that will help nonprofits earn more support?; Nonprofits are entrusted with resources from their supporters and then are given the freedom to use those resources to innovate, invest, and take risks.

Also, to be perfectly honest, I struggle with consistently publishing content (due to a combination of a hectic life schedule and my perfectionistic tendencies), so I am hoping this format will encourage me to overcome these particular challenges.

What will this newsletter be about?

I hope to share practical tips and advice, relevant news and updates, plus a healthy mix of inspiration, all geared toward helping empower anyone who wants to create change at any level. The format will probably evolve over time, and I am allowing myself to see where it takes me!

That's it for my first issue! Before I sign off, a few last thoughts:

  • It would mean the world to me if you could subscribe to receive a notification when a newsletter is published (just hit the blue subscribe button at the top of this page). It would mean even more to me if you would share this with someone who might be interested!
  • If you have any suggestions for content that you'd like me to include, don't hesitate to DM or send me an email at [email protected].
  • You might also be interested in my podcast, where I interview nonprofit leaders, so click here to check that out.
  • Just a reminder that my primary day job is running 14Minds . We partner with nonprofit organizations, mission-driven businesses, philanthropists, and community leaders who refuse to accept the status quo. Our clients are bold dreamers who tackle communal challenges and work tirelessly to enhance the physical, emotional, and spiritual quality of our lives.
