CTOs: Will we need them in the future? Many tech professionals are still living in the ChatGPT Age.

CTOs: Will we need them in the future? Many tech professionals are still living in the ChatGPT Age.

The world changed faster than we thought. In 2019 came Quantum Computing; in 2020 came COVID-19, which shook the world and fast-tracked the role of Technology and how humans think, work, and live; then, in 2022 came the ChatGPT, and in 2023, the world saw multi-modal AI and in 2024, Sora, paving the way for a fast-paced disruption. Yes, you read it right. If you still think ChatGPT was the most significant breakthrough, think again. I write this with an understanding of the world in 2025; let me state that we are just scratching the surface of what Technology will deliver in the next 1-3 years. It will be disruptive to such an extent that it will shake the foundations of many sectors. Companies are paying the fattest paychecks to CTOs, and I am writing to say that we, perhaps, will do away with the CTO position. Technology will become embedded into operations to such an extent that everyone will be expected to be trained in Technology. Like every person should know management in the organization, everyone will be expected to learn Technology.

From Coding to Prompt Engineering

The world has moved from coding to prompt engineering and finally, we will move prompt engineering to a prompt lingo as common as speaking English. I recall my debate with fellow National Education Policy Committee members when they were fighting for the three-language formula; I said, do you all know ‘coding’ is a language? at that time, they were still fighting between English, Sanskrit, and Urdu. As I wrote in my book in 2019, ‘Your Degree is Not Enough’, everything is coming true with time passing by.

On 29th March, I hosted a hackathon at IIT Delhi, and Health Parliament was the sponsor. What the 1st and 2nd-year techies did in less than 10 hours has proved that we don’t even need tech graduates, and it reinforces my belief in the power of youth + technology. At Digital Health Associates Pvt. Ltd , Health Parliament Academy of Digital Health Sciences International Patients’ Union Global Digital Health Summit, Expo & Innovation Awards , we have decided to hire folks without a formal degree, implementing what I wrote in the book ‘ Your Degree is Not Enough’ in 2019. Trust me, the time for four-walled education is over; if you are still schooling your kids in school - you may be creating a burnt-out generation with no future!

From LLMs to LLAs - The Final stop will be LLDMs

We are moving from LLMs to LLAs ( Large Language Models to Large Action Models), and I predict that the real disruption will be moving from LLMs to LLAs to LLDMs—I call these the Large Language Decision Models. Once these LLDMs arrive, we will not need decision-makers -CTOs, etc.

From Artificial Intelligence to Natural Language

Artificial Intelligence will be good enough going forward, and it will become Natural. What an interesting way to look at how Artificial Intelligence creates LLMs and how it creates NLP ( Natural Language Processing ). Wait for the disruption; what appears Artificial will become Natural.

For doctors and professionals in the healthcare industry and hospital founders and CEOs, I am working with Bakul Patel , the world's foremost global leader, to build the capacity needed for global transformation through the three courses we run. This is not the time to wait and watch; it is time to plan and implement technology. I can assure you that we have built the world's best courses in Digital Health with top global leaders.

I am writing again; if you miss it, your friends may be enrolling, so don’t be left behind. Remember, this is not the age of catching up with the times but of being ahead of your time. This is the age of creators: learn fast, move faster, and create the fastest. Through the Academy of Digital Health Sciences , we create innovators, disrupters, and mavericks. Are you the one? Then, don’t miss out. Write to me @ Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, PhD

With you in these super exciting times of disruptive change.

I suppose it depends on what one considers important ans necessary as far as directing and leading technology. I think technology leaders and thinkers will be needed more than ever. In an age where we are moving to more people needing to know less to simply execute tasks.
