CTO insights: Overcoming Fear and Uncertainty around AI

One common observation I've made when talking to different organisations about AI is the sense of fear and uncertainty. Where there's unknown, there's often apprehension and doubt, making it challenging for business leaders to get their teams engaged with AI.

• Firstly, it's important to remind people that AI is already integrated into our daily lives, from predictive text on smartphones to various other applications. By framing AI as an extension of familiar technology, such as predictive text, it becomes more approachable.
• Secondly, consider using different language when discussing AI. Instead of focusing on the term "generative AI" or its potential to replace tasks, highlight its practical benefits. For instance, describe it as a drafting tool to assist with tasks or a tool that speeds up workflow. By presenting AI as a helpful tool rather than a revolutionary force, it becomes less intimidating.

While there's a lot of hype surrounding AI's potential to revolutionise entire industries, the reality is that incremental improvements, like providing assistance and streamlining processes, are what make a tangible difference in the short term. Breaking down AI into smaller, manageable components can make it less daunting.
