#CSW67 IPU-UN Women Parliamentary Day

I was honoured to open, alongside the IPU President Pacheco, the annual IPU-UN Women Parliamentary Day at CSW 67.

Today’s discussion focused on the tremendously important role of parliaments in advancing gender equality through technology and making sure that women and girls are not left behind.

In my speech, I urged MPs to influence legislation, policies and budgets to ensure that the voices of women and girls are considered in the design of technology. To see the systemic change, we need to ensure digitalization takes feminist principles of inclusion and intersectionality, including ending tech-facilitated gender-based violence.

Today’s event also served to launch the IPU-UN Women Map “Women in Politics: 2023” with new global data for women in executive positions and national parliaments.? Happy #CSW67!
