A TRUE TEAM EFFORT!

With over £110,000 raised for CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably), it's clear who the winners of the Mental Health World Cup 2023 were.

Over 320 players enjoyed an incredible day out at Loftus Road taking part in over 120 matches. Whilst The Shore Group team fell in the Round of 16 - VAR anyone? - it was amazing to celebrate the fundraising efforts of everyone involved including over £1,100 raised so far by The Shore Group!

Sponsored by Overbury, the event has been running since 2012 and is a key fundraiser for mental health in the construction industry. The event also shines a spotlight on the ongoing challenge of male suicide rates in the UK - suicide remains the biggest killer of men under 45.

Our alliance with the construction industry is reflective of the size of the problem in this industry, where men are three times more likely to take their own lives than other men in the UK.

FROM OUR FOUNDERS

It's been another amazing few weeks of Social Value delivery from across the Group. As well as the impact of the contribution, We're incredibly proud that every division is playing its part, from retail to recruitment and integrated services to logistics.

Individually, each project makes a difference, but taking a wider view they contribute towards the ambitious goals we've set as part of our 2030 CSR Strategy.

Our goals are aligned to our key clients so that we're supporting the whole supply chain to add social value. For example our ethical resourcing team helps the community into work and clients deliver their s106 obligations - it's a win-win-win!

The event was led by Sarah Chatfield, Osborne's Sustainable Procurement Officer, with support from Lauren Mears, The Shore Group's M&E Business Development and Social Values Manager.

The Taster Day was aimed at supporting individuals pursuing a career in the construction industry with site walks, CV talks and mentoring.

The event was an excellent example of how businesses can promote social values while providing valuable assistance to the community.

We partner with clients to understand each project's Social Value and s106 requirements. We then jointly develop the resourcing plan which delivers by working with local colleges, charities, community groups and the local authority.

We call this Ethical Recruitment. It’s a strategy that supports individuals who require additional assistance, including those who have experienced homelessness, ex-offenders, and NEET individuals finding opportunities to kickstart their careers in construction.
