India mandates certain companies having crossed the prescribed threshold to mandatory spend 2% of their average net profits during immediately preceding 3 years towards the corporate social responsibility.??
The country is making efforts to progress towards removing the problem of child marriage which has its deep roots in the society. It is happening regularly in many villages, and thereby changing the life of a child forever, particularly that of a girl child. Any move towards its prevention can have a long lasting impact in empowering such young hearts to not only have an opportunity to gain education but also dream of acquiring top positions and in turn connect emotionally with the corporate world and deliver to their best.??
Children should be raised in an equitable way so that they can confront social wrongs in life and be instrumental in preventing such practices.??
Although prevention of child marriage is not expressly listed in the activities specified in Schedule VII of the Companies Act, this can surely be done as part of a larger activity for promoting education among children which is covered in the list of CSR activities. The scheduled activities are anyway required to be interpreted liberally.
