If interested please DM myself or contact Sophie on her email address provided below.
We need your help. If you or your company could offer any form of CSR support, whether it is funding or volunteer work to ensure our project gets completed for the next school year that would be fantastic!? It will be a real benefit to the pupils.

Muirfield Primary School created a secure outdoor area which primarily the infant department (Primary 1 and Primary 2) have main access to. The outdoor area is currently being used to support free flow play and allowing the children to use loose materials for construction projects and chalk to draw on the walls. Moving forward our aim is to innovate the outdoor area to ensure it creates a positive environment that will encourage and inspire creativity in our young children. The current state of the area - named The Party Pod doesn’t inspire much creativity and with a lack of high quality resources the children can’t achieve developing DYW ( Developing the Young Workforce) skills, being creative in STEM projects and becoming mini engineers constructing various items. We are hoping to use funding raised to improve the secure outdoor area and not only will it be used throughout the day by our infant department but it will also be accessible across the whole school to offer a variety of engaging opportunities and encourage scaffolding and building friendship across the year groups. We aim to build different areas for the outdoor space that will be linked to STEM, literacy, engineering/construction, role play and encourage freedom of choice and expression. The outdoor area will incorporate a variety of resources, utilising all natural products to promote our eco-friendly values within school. We would like to create a sensory wall as many of our pupils have ASN ( Additional Support Needs) and this would benefit supporting their development as well as encouraging others to explore music, science (gravity) and textures/feelings through this wall. Using natural materials such as small tree stumps and wooden tables, we would love to create a sitting area that can be used to complete small projects outside or promote literacy by using the table as a mini workstation within the outdoor area. Currently, our construction resources are old, broken and weathered. Replacing these materials with new and different/various materials, we hope to inspire creativity within our young minds to build a variety of different constructions and utilise their problem solving skills to engineer fantastic projects to play and learn with. If possible we would like to construct a sandpit with a lid, by doing so, this will not only benefit keeping the sand protected from the Scottish weather but create additional space for a staged area - our children absolutely love to perform and will utilise the staged area to perform and role play. Lastly, we would love to create a wooden teepee, in keeping with our natural theme of the area. This will support the children’s roleplay development and provide a safe zone if needed. We use safe zones in our classrooms and around the school to support pupils' emotional needs and allow them time to regulate before joining back in with their learning activities. Overall, The Party Pod could provide an amazing opportunity for these children to access a wide variety of resources that will inspire creativity and innovation in their young minds. It will also allow us to give them resources that they may not otherwise have access to outside of the school environment. We believe this is a great opportunity to invest in, supporting a local community within Aberdeen that would appreciate and benefit from improving this area. Ultimately, we are aiming to change our environment to support the minds, growth and development of our young children - who maybe one day might become engineers!

For information, one of the biggest threats to Energy Transition is a lack of heavy industry skills and we need to start early to develop these skills for the next generation.
