CSR & ART
Corporate Responsibility is art, it sculpts the company to make our planet a better place, it captures the surrounding and edits it to be delightful image, it plays the background music to move feelings, it draws a smile on the people, and it paints the environment in green.
The truth is, arts as a cause do not register within CSR circles as strongly as other causes but CSR professionals agreed that arts activities are useful for reaching a wide group of stakeholders in a high profile public environment. As CSR develops, arts activities with a community focus are particularly useful in engaging with stakeholders and influencing opinion formers, as they combine public events with the opportunity to showcase a company’s social impact.
DAL sees the value of the arts in helping them to meet their CSR objectives, for example by helping them to improve the impact they have on communities or by improving the skills of their staff themselves.
Ozone has always been the forerunner; as they hosted an art sale to benefit Cheshire Home for People with Disabilities, through a gallery of local artists' paintings and photographs.
DAL Food Division’s CCR team put together a fun arts workshop at Ozone for 50 kids, comprising children of DAL employees as well as Ozone customers. The purpose of the activity was to commemorate the previous World Environment Day, by encouraging children to think about the natural environment around them. For these artists in training, Ozone’s beautiful landscape provided the perfect inspiration. At the end of the day, the kids left with completed masterpieces, arts supplies to create more at home, t-shirts, new friends, and happy spirits.
