Cryptocurrency Security Alert!
I stumbled across a major cryptocurrency security issue that I wanted to share with you. Whether you use cryptocurrency for poker or anything else, this is a big one.
So here’s the deal. A lot of us keep our crypto wallets on our phones. iPhone. Android. Whatever. I’m using an iPhone but the same security issue could easily exist on Android.
Now, if you’ve ever lost your wallet, you can use your SEED words to recover your cryptocurrency. The other day, I had to restore my wallet on my iPhone. So, I went through the process and when asked for my SEED words, I entered them. Everything was restored, just as it should have been. No issues there.
Later on, when I was going about my business on my phone, I typed a word that happened to be the same as the first SEED word. And as soon as I did, something bad happened.
My predictive keyboard’s AI inadvertently auto-populated all 12 words in my sequence. There they were, for the entire world to see. All 12 SEED words.
So if a hacker got ahold of my phone, they could theoretically figure out my entire SEED by guessing the first word. And because everything exists in the cloud, who knows if they’d even need physical access to my phone.
If you ever need to restore your wallet, make sure you turn off the predictive text AI feature first. Better safe than sorry.
