Crypto Currency Do You Understand It? (subtitle Alzheimer's and other puzzling Phenomenon).

I have been listening to two of my young adult children having an extensive conversation about crypto currency for the last hour.

It left me almost totally in the dark. And I have been around the dark banking world for a few years.

Relatively speaking.

Bitcoin and one other particular crypto coin beginning with an M, which is apparently going to make their fortune is hot news.

(I'm not allowed to mention it apparently! but it almost rhymes with 'adventurer' if you are game).

I'm looking forward to the children looking after me in my old age.

And so, I hope their optimism is correct.

They have been 'mining' coins for some years, and talking regretfully about not purchasing many of them before.

How many of us, actually understand what 'mining coins' really means?

Not me, even after the lengthy explanation.

Is this a generational phenomenon?

I have also decided to share their thoughts that one of them is looking forward to an #AI robot that can talk to me in my old age, and answer my questions repeatedly when I reach that stage where #Alzheimer's may become a problem.

Obviously, this is not because I talk a lot, but more a scientific experiment...

Clearly, the hour long explanation of this new method of banking with crypto currency ("join discussions and invest now!") had not persuaded me, and was giving them portense of what might be ahead in terms of where their mother was heading in terms of her future levels of understanding.

Although, I would argue, they were not making their argument clear enough.

Having said that, I'll probably be persuaded to have a little flutter and take a chance.

After all, life is short.

My mother, who was a very exuberant and lovely personality suffered from Alzheimer's into her 80's and died last year.

My sister's affectionate name for her was 'Edwina Bonkers'.

And my mother was completely bonkers in the end, in the most beautiful and humorous way.

And if I don't know the difference between my children and a robot in the future, it seems a reasonable solution for me to chat to a robot...and spare them the agony of listening to me repeat questions over and over again.

Also a robot might be better than a grumpy care 'taker'.

And might give excellent and patient 'answers' repeatedly.

Although in my own family, we were blessed with wonderful people to look after our mother.

And the personal touch must surely always be better if possible.

However, it is very important that the 'carer' is respected, looked after too, and cared about.

We don't hear much about carers in our society.

It is a very quiet and silent occupation for the most part.

Also, it is a long haul and very emotionally draining looking after family members who are no longer who they once were to you and others around them.

It is hard to watch your parent being in some ways rejected by their friends who can no longer relate to them.

Not through malice, just simply through lack of understanding, or perhaps fear of being in their position themselves.

If your parents are being looked after in residential homes, or at home, what are your thoughts regarding AI robots helping out with every day tasks?

Could that help?

I know that is a somewhat controversial idea today, but I'm guessing in years to come it will be almost the norm for every day care for basic help in some ways.

I'd love to know your thoughts for a Podcast I am putting together, or just simply to share on a new Facebook Page I am launching called 'Funny You Should Say That'.

And if you can explain crypto currency in layman's language that would be fantastic too!

It's a whole new mine(d) field.... (sorry for that one).

Jeff Sheehan any thoughts, I'm starting the outreach? Kimberly Reynolds George Biddle would love to share with carers. I know there will be a lot of amazing stories to be told.
