Cryptid Cagematch Blog

Cryptid Cagematch Blog

Welcome to my blog! Cryptid Cagematch is your place to read about obscure cryptids and creatures from folklore all over the world.

So What is This Blog All About?

Well, long story short, I hate blogging, but I LOVE being a monster nerd and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE writing fiction.

When trying to decide how I would create an engaging blog that didn't sap my energy but still engaged my readers, I decided to combine my love for writing, researching creatures, and playing board games into this blog format:

The blog will essentially work like this: Each month I will post two Cryptid Tidbit articles (see below). The third week of every month, I will put out a voting poll (See Cryptid Cagematch below) and the final week of each month, I will publish a short story featuring whichever of the two monsters you voted for

Cryptid Tidbits

The first two Fridays of every month, I will post these 700-1200 word articles on creatures, spirits, and cryptids from all over the world. Each Tidbit will feature a single monster, preferably from a more obscure folklore. These are brief, lighthearted studies of these mythological (or some believe real) creatures.

Cryptid Cagematch

The third and fourth weeks of every month will be the Cryptid Cagematch posts. On the third Monday of every month, I will open a voting poll wherein voters will choose from one of the two creatures featured in the Cryptid Tidbit articles for that month. On the third Friday of every month, I will announce the winner of the poll.

For the final week of every month, I will write a short story featuring/centered around whichever of the monthly creatures was victorious in the Cryptid Cagematch. These short stories will be available on my Patreon for only one dollar per month (essentially you're paying for a one dollar horror story every month, all voting and articles remain free).

Why Cryptid Cagematch?

I like this blog idea because it is an interactive game between me and my readers. It allows you, the readers, control over my most consistent content while allowing me to discuss a topic I am passionate about and continue to produce fiction regularly.

I am open to and constantly asking for any suggestions, comments, and feedback for the blog. If you have a cryptid you'd like to nominate for the Cagematch, or simply one you would love to read my take on, please send it in to me. If you've seen a cryptid, and you'd like to share that experience somewhere, I'd love to hear from you! Never hesitate to reach out in the comments, or on my contact page, here on the website.

Enjoy the creepiness and thanks for reading!
