??Cryoablation for the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding??

Channel Medsystems, a California-based medical technology company, has created the Cerene cryotherapy device to treat menstrual bleeding.

Heavy menstrual bleeding can affect many women's quality of life, a condition accompanied by abdominal pain, cramping and fatigue.

Cerene technology provides an effective treatment for menstrual bleeding and is a procedure that can be performed in the doctor's office in just a few minutes and does not require general anesthesia.

The procedure is performed by inserting the device into the uterus, where the endometrial mucosa is cryoablated. It is designed for premenopausal women who are not planning to have children.

The Cerene cryotherapy device is FDA approved for outpatient endometrial ablation in women with heavy menstrual bleeding.

The treatment is well tolerated and provides menstrual relief, significantly reducing heavy bleeding as well as cramps, thereby improving quality of life.

It is important to note that the Cerene retains the ability to access and evaluate the uterine cavity for diagnosis and treatment of intrauterine changes after manipulation.

The Cerene device uses cryotherapy, or cooling technology, to remove the uterine mucosa known as the endometrium, which is often the cause of heavy bleeding and discomfort.

Since monthly endometrial rejection causes menstrual bleeding, removal of the uterine lining may result in less or no menstrual bleeding and cramping.

Cerene cryotherapy is a 2.5-minute procedure that can be performed in the comfort and familiarity of a gynecologist's office without the need for general anesthesia.

Unlike heat-based ablation techniques, Cerene uses cryotherapy, which provides natural pain relief during treatment.

The participants in the CLARITY clinical study actually had a median pain score of 2/10 at the time of treatment. Twelve months after treatment, 90 percent of patients had normal, light or no menstrual periods.
