Cry if you may!
This girl asked me, "Can you write about crying?" I told, "I have written about it already." She said she liked it, but asked if I can write something new! I could not stop myself from asking, "Why would you want me to write about crying?" and she said, "I am someone who recently realized how beautiful an experience crying is." My initial response was, "Indeed, crying is a beautiful experience." I am not so sure anymore.
Crying is a messy affair. A raw experience.
In fact, as visceral as any of our experiences can get. Your head hurts like hell, your cheeks get puffy, your hair disorganized, your eyes pouring, and your face flooded in tears. And sometimes, you feel the bile in your mouth as if you want to puke the guts out. Crying is no beauty.
But then again, that can't be all.
Of course not. It is not crying that is beautiful, but what it does to us; what it means to us! As I understand, there is no other emotion that can touch our hearts as deep as sadness. It is not our eyes that cried, but our hearts. Yes, sadness is dark, heavy, and sometimes frightening. Yet, we cry. When we cry, our hearts are out there, its vulnerability visible. Those are the times when we touch the depths of our being. Where we can realize who we are, and who we can be.
Crying is beautiful not for what we see outside, but for what we become inside!
Crying is beautiful because when we cry, we are at the base of what makes us human.
If one could cry, yet not lose vision, I think, that is when one could find salvation, redemption, and enlightenment.
If life gave you a reason to cry, cry if you may. Sometimes, when we cry, we find our home!

3 年I resort to crying to almost anything painful and when I am intensely grateful. Crying is the emotion of life, the very first sign doctors even look if the child born is still born or a heathy one. One should cry, it doesn’t make one weak; but it seems like the rain that washes the dust away. It kind of gives clarity to the situation. Thank you sir Noufal Hameed, Ph.D. For beautifully putting it down !
