The Crux of the Story - a new podcast with Gary Sheffer & Mike Fernandez

NEW PODCAST ON COMMUNICATION AND REPUTATION - Thrilled to join long-time friend, Boston University colleague and former GE Chief Communications Officer (CCO) Gary Sheffer in launching a new podcast,The Crux of the Story (which we simply refer to as THE CRUX). The podcast will be posted and cataloged each week on Spotify as "The Crux of the Story" and you can easily find it by looking for the logo seen here. There will be posts each week on Facebook (@thecruxofthestorypodcast) and Twitter (@podcastcrux) announcing our guest(s) for the week.

The idea of the podcast is to each week apply our years of experience as chief communications officers and in politics and journalism to address the heart of stories impacting the media, communications and the reputation of organizations and people in the news. Our commentary is combined with interviews with some of the top people in the business of shaping the news and communicating with audiences of all kinds. Among are early guests are: Wall Street Journal editor-in-chief Matt Murray, Oscar-winning and Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney (His most recent project on HBO - "The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley" - looks at Theranos and its founder Elizabeth Holmes), Schneider Electric CCO (and former International Olympic Committee CCO) Becky Edwards and Dunkin' CCO Karen Raskopf (well, because as she tells us, "America Runs On Dunkin").

Our official launch comes this week with the posting of our interview with the dean of Boston University's College of Communication (and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist) Thomas Fiedler. In part this is done in celebration of Tom's eleven years as dean and as he attends his last graduation at Boston University in that role. Tom reflects in a very thoughtful way on his career in journalism, the challenges of covering politics, and life in academe.

Our hope is to each week be informative, lively and do so with some thought and good humor. Hope you join us - and we encourage everyone to engage in the conversation by commenting on the shows on Facebook and Twitter. Enjoy!
