Cruising is Personal
Opinions about cruising can be polarized as “I am addicted to Cruising” and on the other side of the divide “I don’t want to be imprisoned on a floating holiday camp.”
Cruising is actually the fastest growing holiday sector and the headlines are often grabbed by the latest, larger than ever, Cruise ship, an exciting new opportunity for the experienced cruise passenger. However, experts in the sector explain that “there is a cruise and a cruise ship for everyone”, the key factor is establishing your personal requirements.
One cruise company, Celebrity, has a ship, based in the Galapagos Islands, that takes only 92 passengers and is a mixture of expedition and luxury. In a similar vein, there are smaller ships that explore the wilds of Patagonia and Antarctica through to intimate vessels that glide down some of the really interesting rivers and waterways of Europe.Other options are spectacular Tall Sailing Ships that operate in the Mediterranean and Far East, often providing the opportunity to climb the mast and enjoy the view from the “Crow’s Nest”.
The choice on offer is mind-boggling from three to seven star service on the more traditional ships to being part passenger/part crew on a “Gullet” hopping around the islands of Croatia.
There are many ways to see our exciting world and perhaps Cruising may provide unexpected variety and safety that has not always been fully appreciated.
