Cruising Alaska in 2021? It's Possible!

This past week several of my colleagues joined hundreds of people representing the travel industry and spent a day on Capitol Hill lobbying congressional representatives from their home states. And during their time in DC, both the House and Senate passed The Alaska Tourism Restoration Act, which waives the requirement for foreign-flagged ships sailing from the US to have at least one stop in a foreign port. This waiver is critical, as Canada has not yet set a date for opening its borders. And on the heels of this waiver being granted, several well-known cruise lines have announced Alaska cruise itineraries for the Summer of 2021, sailing round-trip from Seattle. Final approval from the CDC is pending, but these itineraries are open for booking now.
Additional Information:
- Celebrity & Royal Caribbean both plan to resume sailing from Seattle to Alaska in mid-July. Passengers must be fully vaccinated at a minimum of 14 days prior to embarkation; effective 8/1/21 this requirement applies to passengers between ages 12-15. Children age 11 and under will be tested prior to boarding.
- Norwegian will offer 11 1-week itineraries starting 8/7/2021. All passengers must be fully vaccinated.
- Carnival, Princess, and Holland America will deploy the Carnival Miracle, Majestic Princess, and Nieuw Amsterdam in late July. Passengers must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to boarding.
If you are interested in sailing through Alaska from Seattle, please reach out to me - I'd be delighted to help you plan your trip. Demand for these cruises is sure to be high.
Not quite ready to travel, but want to have a trip to look forward to? Consider joining me in 2022 - I'll be headed for a river cruise through Burgundy & Provence in the spring, then in June, a Bucket List trip for me, to Southern Africa, visiting Capetown, the Winelands, Victoria Falls, and then going on Safari.
