Crown Prince to attend international climate conference in Copenhagen

HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark will be attending Agri-Food & Climate Circle, SEGES Innovation’s international climate conference as they gather green scientists, researchers and companies from across the world in Copenhagen.

Since the UN climate conference COP-15 was held in Copenhagen in 2009, the Danish Crown Prince has been engaged in the global climate and environment challenges and Denmark’s role as a nation leading the green transition.

To this end, the Crown Prince will be attending Agri-Food & Climate Circle, which brings together science, industry and decision-makers from the global agriculture and food sector on 10-11 May. The Crown Prince will be delivering the closing remarks at the conference, which is organised by Danish knowledge and innovation company SEGES Innovation.

”The Crown Prince is strongly dedicated to the green transition, and we are extremely proud that the Crown Prince will take an active part in the conference. His attendance emphasises the importance of gathering international agri-food researchers, industry, and decision-makers to share knowledge and to forge a common path towards greener food production,” says Lisbeth Henricksen , Executive Director, SEGES Innovation.

All perspectives need to be examined

Joining the Crown Prince at the conference will be CEOs Peder Tuborgh , Arla Foods ; Jais Valeur , Danish Crown ; and Cees 't Hart , Carlsberg Group , as well as a long line of top experts from all over the world.

”In order to accomplish the necessary greenhouse gas reductions, we need to examine every single perspective and work closely across sectors and national borders. We are so pleased that the Crown Prince, along with a multitude of experts from business and science, will contribute actively to solving the global climate challenge,” states Lisbeth Henricksen.

Green ideas from all over the world

The conference programme consists of presentations, panel discussions and debates. In addition, 15 green ideas from researchers and companies will be presented, selected by an expert panel from more than 80 submissions from around the globe.

The conference has 7 main topics: Documenting green initiatives; Optimum resource utilization; Consumer impact in the green transition; Sustainable land use management; Sustainable animal-based food production; Using biotechnology as an alternative source of protein; and Plant-based food and future protein transition.
