Crowdfunding Facts: There are Fees

Someone recently wrote an article citing that you should not crowdfund because you’ll probably owe fees. Most crowdfunding platforms are profit-seeking companies in their own right. Guess what? You'll owe fees no matter how you get funds. Getting a loan causes you to owe fees. Unless you are getting money that your mom pulled out of her bra, you're going to owe fees.

In the real world in which we all live, there are fees. That is how people make a living and pay their bills. You should be very cautious when people say there are no fees. When something is free, you have to look very closely. Everything has to be paid for, and you need to make sure that if you are paying for it, you understand how much you are going to pay for it. That goes for crowdfunding websites also. They charge to stay in business, and you need to know how much. That does not mean you won't want to use them, it just means, you need to understand what the cost is and how to figure it. When you understand how things work, you do not need to fear them.
