CROSSS RAIL : What went wrong ?
I tried to watch the TV programme, but died of irritation and embarrassment.
But I did smile watching Johnson and Adonis holding hands, while trying to press the button.
Its an old joke … Q “But why take an instant dislike to architect†A: “It saves timeâ€.
And, with an estimated £1 billion over-run on station budgets, there is good reason why …
But the question must be : Was there anyone with the balls to say to politicians and other ignorant people … “ If you want that, it is going to cost you …. “ ?? I suspect not.
The programming also seemed to invite Contractors claims … Did no one understand lean, mean contracting ? Price the job to win and look for opportunities to claim .
At least another ï¿¡1 billion in claims for delay.
Those working on the project knew there were problems …
but no one seemed to want to understand …
I have always worked on the basis that “ You may not want to hear what I am going to tell you , but I will tell you what I think you need to know …â€
Did anyone have the balls to tell them what they needed, but possibly did not want, to know ?
Anyway, I was just a pissing contest …. MINE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS …. Labour produced Crossrail : Osborne / Cameruin tried to stifle it …. Now Conservatives (Cameruin) produced a BIGGER project HS2 and some sensible Labour person ( does one exist ?) will have to deal with it or saddle this country with the mother and father of financial cock ups …
As far as HS2 is concerned : Shall we talk about their flagship effort : They planted trees they died …A bit like Boris’ garden bridge (who sold him that ??) it died an expensive death.

5 年Wot a joke indeed I was “privileged “ to be given some time to discuss project systems with one of these top people about 5 years ago. Without tooting my horn i might have known more than they did and the answers to my questions were poor and showed a lacklustre understanding of many key issues . I repeat here that the government needs independent highly experienced critical thinking people to challenge delivery people on mega projects to avoid the crapola outcome for the taxpayers with assets sitting idle people tapping their fingers while the end date evaporates
