Teaching/Faculty Librarian (Information Science & Theory of Knowledge (TOK))
As I stand at this career crossroads, the choices before me are both exciting and daunting. Having spent years as a reference librarian, I've honed my skills in information retrieval, research guidance, and user education. However, the landscape of academia is rapidly evolving, and I'm drawn to the prospect of exploring new avenues.
One path that intrigues me is transitioning to teaching librarianship at an international high school as in my current job. This role would allow me to share my passion for information literacy with a younger generation and potentially shape their lifelong learning habits. I envision myself guiding students through research projects, teaching them critical thinking skills, and fostering a love of learning.
On the other hand, the growing field of data analytics and academic publishing presents a compelling opportunity. My experience in information retrieval and research could be valuable in roles such as data curation, metadata management, or data visualization. I'm interested in exploring how data can be leveraged to enhance research, improve decision-making, and advance knowledge in various fields.
While the decision is not easy, I believe that my ultimate goal should be to find a career path that aligns with my passions, values, and professional aspirations. I'm excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and eager to embark on a new chapter in my career journey.
