For thousands of years, humans have been taking retreats. Now for R&R but for dynamic personal growth.
Now neuroscience tells us that we have a deep need to retreat from our usual ways of thinking, reacting and being. That is how we grow. In re-treat, we treat ourselves with restorative self-compassion and expose ourselves to generative challenges.
Transformational retreats are not for the fainthearted, however.
Real renewal comes by ending whatever is and entering a temporary state of chaos, where anything is possible. The experience opens the door to places we never knew were there.
The power of crossing thresholds was first discovered by anthropologists as the most natural, most effective and most lasting approach to human transformation across cultures and time. It is: grounded in ancient wisdom, confirmed by contemporary neuroscience, and it is foundation of design thinking. While no religion has a copyright on the way human life thrives through its seasons, each religion or life philosophy has its own door to the mystery of human transformation.
At transformational retreats, we encounter simple human spirituality, one that is open, worldly, and grounded. While experiencing something new (at times we purposefully get a little uncomfortable together), you will be in your spiritual home.
In retreat, we:
- Temporarily separate ourselves from our habitual environment (which is, by the way, quite invested in keeping us the same)
- Interrupt information overload and the endless life-hacking advice being streamed into our lives
- Explore our new self—the one that has been in the making all along, while we were unaware
- Release stories that have outlasted their accuracy and usefulness
- Bring our past, present and future into an awake, lucid moment that irreversibly shifts our perception
- Receive insight, inspiration, and support for our transformation as we embark on new beginnings.
Retreat is far more than merely taking rest or changing the scenery.
It is a space where our creativity surfaces and we find a new sense of purpose, a new store of energy and new clarity for the journey ahead.

6 年I wish I could make it to the Santa Monica retreat but that weekend is booked. Maybe next time around.
