Well, this is not exactly a part 2, it is more of an epilogue I would say. I just wanted elaborate a bit more on some of the obvious chasms visible to us all.
Wanton Capitalism -------- Conscious Capitalism-------------In Service Capitalism
The WEF dialogue is in favor of the one in between. Why is capitalism a word that I continue to use? Because inherent in that word is meritocracy and rewards for risk taking & hard work. But when selfishness and greed overwhelm our leaders then capitalism becomes wanton & almost evil. So in conscious capitalism, conscious effort is made to consider the value that is created for other stakeholders like the environment, society, employees in addition to the shareholders. For this to happen in some genuine manner, the DEVA qualities in leaders must awaken. For In Service Capitalism to happen, humanity needs to undergo much more of OS upgrades including a total reboot. :-)
Exteriorisation <------------------------------------------------------------->Interiorisation
I touched upon this in Part 1. Many of us have seen this video of a man lying on grass in a lawn and the camera zooming out by and by till earth, solar system and even the Milky Way is just a spec. And then the camera zooms back in and keeps going into a blade of grass till the atoms are visible. All this is in the physical realm. Can our curriculum include understanding & learning about the process of making a journey within our minds? Treatises and manuscripts written based on experiences of individuals from eons ago, seem to suggest that, an inward journey is not only possible but is necessary if man has to be able to understand and live well in harmony with nature. A significant step necessary in the process of becoming a good human. Will we not be open to conducting painstaking experiments on ourselves following prescribed steps outlined and experience things rather than mock at our manuscripts & treatises?
Consumption<.......................................................................................> Spirit of Giving
Planet Earth & its ecosystem is a gift that we have inherited where almost everything is in a spirit of giving. Even the tiger plays a role in maintaining the balance. By eating the herbivores, it prevents afforestation and climate change which will have a negative impact on earth's ecosystem. We are all too familiar with the impact that re-introduction of wolves made on the Yellowstone National Park -

It is only us humans who keep taking. We have to help and inspire our future leaders to change by developing and practicing more of the DEVA behaviors.
Conscious Capitalism, Interiorisation & Spirit of Giving are all values and practices that may be anathema to the present world of financial analysts, PEs and VCs which have over the past many years encouraged valuation of the firm over the fundamental premise of making profits & positively impacting all stakeholders, by any business enterprise. The change may seem huge but I am hopeful a beginning will be made soon and as more adoption of these values and practices happen, the fundamental DEVA behaviors will manifest more and more.
Let me know your thoughts and lets continue this dialogue on conscious capitalism & the need to build better leaders of tomorrow.

This is excellent. Educating the DEVA behaviour is nothing but educating the moral values. This should be started from the young age... There used to be Moral-Education period in schools up till 9th standard where the class teacher or language teacher comes and shares various moral instilling stories or initiate discussions with students on this subject casually. These Moral-education got converted to coaching classes for weak students. It slowly then transformed to science and maths classes for covering the portions early. One fine day this just got vanished. But parallels we had media, cinema books is lowly spreading the “Me Mine Myself” culture. So, with the experiences from this pandemic, we will have to start educating millennials the need for allowing others too in our space , and the fact that there is always a intersection of spaces. This is a very vast topic but very important topic that you have started. And the success of this will have a huge impact on society. Thanks for writing this sir.

4 年Excellent .. Capitalism with responsibility and consciousness. The beginning of it can be done by simple steps like Utilizing funds, resources very judiciously. I think any fund raised from financial institution , VC or PE comes from the pool of the fund available in the ecosystem. So whatever I take is a piece from the available resources in the universe. Had been the case I have not taken it some other needy might have taken it for the better use of it. So when I am utilizing that fund or resource for my business plan it's my responsibility to utilize it in such a way that, not only it will create value for all my stakeholders; but it will also justify why only I got an opportunity to utilize that fund than somebody else...
