Crossing The Crossroad Of Your Career Or Business

Crossing The Crossroad Of Your Career Or Business

Arriving at a crossroads in your career or business can be both exciting and frustrating. Exciting because a new life awaits you when you cross the crossroad. But also frustrating if you are in the dark as to what is on the other side or how to make the transition.

Then there is the fear of what if I’m not good enough for the new path?; What if I don’t make as much money?; What if it doesn’t work out?; What if I’m wrong and I’m better off staying put even though I’m unhappy - at least I’m secure? Right!

All those "what if’s" put fear in the future, stopping you in your tracks before you’ve even begun to explore the possibilities and opportunities.

In my personal experience, and observation as a long time business mentor, I have seen that many of us get stuck at the crossroads for much longer than is necessary. Yet when we do finally take the step and make the change, we rarely look back. We always wonder why we didn’t make the move sooner.

If you happen to be at a crossroads right now, and experiencing a loss of passion for your current life; indecision because you either fear the potential future; or simply lack the courage to make your move; I want to share with you a formula I use every time I find myself at a crossroads.

Confidence to move forward is a whole lot easier when you understand these three fundamentals of life…

1 -- You’re here to expand: Your soul’s purpose is to expand, and your life’s purpose is the specific way for that expansion to occur.

So when you’re stuck, procrastinating on taking action, you’re delaying the fulfilment of the next level of your Soul Purpose - You’re delaying your expansion.

That can only end up in contraction. This is why the longer you procrastinate, the more limited and frustrated you feel. Your in-action is creating the opposite of your Soul’s natural inclination to expand.

2 -- Secondly, if you’re feeling called to do something else, or contemplate change because you’re lacking joy and passion, then you’re supposed to answer the calling.

This is really liberating to know. You’re not supposed to be dissatisfied with your work. Dissatisfaction is a sign the Soul is misaligned somewhere in your life experience. It’s why you often hear people talk about their work or business they’ve grown tired of, as being “Soul Destroying Work”.

You can’t destroy your Soul, but certainly delaying growing and expanding beyond an unhappy situation can be “Soul Purpose Delaying”, since you’re here to expand. If you’re feeling called do something else, you want change, you lack joy, and the passion for life is waning, you’re dissatisfied and bored, you feel you have a bigger purpose -

That’s a big fat giant sized clue something is out of alignment, and that other possibilities exist out there for you. They really do exist if you were wondering…

3 -- Thirdly - And this is a cautionary message… Your fear get’s projected into your future unless you take charge of it. I think it was Moses in the Bible that said “What I have feared has come upon me.”

You’re not going to want to indulge your fear, or give attention to all the horror stories your mind can make up about what “might” happen. You run the risk of it becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.

Instead, take charge of your mind, stop listening to fear thoughts, and take baby steps until you fee confident enough to take giant steps to make the change.

A big part of taking charge of your mind, allowing that expansion to occur, and moving towards more passion for your working life, is to simply give yourself permission to explore the possibilities. It’s not hard and it’s non threatening. If you need to do it quietly until you find some answers, then do it quietly on the side.

Give yourself permission to do the soul searching and self discovery work that would give you the confidence to make an empowered good decision you can act on.

Answer the call by giving yourself the time to explore the call and its implications for your life, and loved ones.

This is a much more empowered way of moving forward if fear is present. It’s also a more graceful way for those of us who are mavericks and tend to jump of a cliff without a parachute, only to cause unnecessary drama in our relationships and finances. I’ve done that one too many times to know there’s a better way.

Once you’ve given your self permission to go on a pilgrimage, so to speak, then find the what, when, where, how, who, of the next milestone in your Life’s Purpose, and build a transition strategy

Knowing where you’re going, how you’re going to get there, and what it looks like once you get there, gives you more courage to take the action to actually get there.

A transition strategy can make you more excited than fearful, and override your skeptic monkey mind. Cross the crossroads with this strategy under your arm and you have a mighty navigational companion taking the journey with you.
