Break down the silos!

Rapid response electrolyser systems offer "a common denominator" holistic solution to the decarbonisation of a number of industrial sectors, as well as producing a no compromise clean transport fuel for cars, vans, buses, trucks, boats, trains and planes.

A modular low cost, and mature electrolyser platform is key for scaling up for 100MW plus deployment in chemicals and refining.  First ITM Power refinery project 10MW with Shell announced 1 September 2017.

But don't forget as well as producing a clean renewable gas, the sub-second response on MW scale enables the full utilisation of renewable energy, via grid balancing in primary sub-second markets, increasing its penetration on the grid and removing grid capacity constraints. 

In fact the plug & play nature of deployment and operation provide a low footprint and distributed facility to harness surplus renewable energy, when the wind is blowing but demand is low, to keep the grid-balanced for frequency control.... and critically vector conversion  (electrons to hydrogen) means that storage isn't restricted by capacity or discharge time, ie. the store doesn't have to discharge before recharge, thus making it the economic choice for long duration storage, above 24 hours.       

A perfect application for remote and island communities to benefit from their own electricity and fuel production using solar PV, wind or the tides, for transport, heat, power, etc..
