Cross border working

Cross border working

Europe map, money and visa

The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the way we work, with remote working becoming far more widespread. Traditionally, employees working in another jurisdiction were part of employer-initiated international assignments. However, the trend has shifted, and now employees often request to work remotely from another country, having realised that they can do their job from anywhere with the right IT equipment and access.

This shift brings a complex set of employment, immigration, social security, and tax requirements that must be considered. These obligations apply in at least two jurisdictions, sometimes more. Whilst it may be tempting to adopt a template approach to cross border working, this often proves costly and risky in the long run.

Our comprehensive training course covers the importance of ‘for-purpose’ documentation, securing and protecting the immigration status of your migrant staff, conflict of laws and jurisdictional issues, as well as top tips regarding tax and social security.

Programme Highlights:

?? Outward or inward bound: same issues

?? The need for bespoke documentation

?? Immigration visas and permits

?? Top tax tips

The course is especially relevant for HR professionals, in-house lawyers and recruitment professionals who deal with employee requests for remote working from another jurisdiction and/or with international assignments. It covers legal and contractual issues only.
