Richemont to sell online retailer YOOX stake to Farfetch
On August 24, Richemont announced a deal to offload most of its online fashion retailer YOOX Net-A-Porter, clearing the way for its labels to sign up for technology run by luxury e-commerce specialist Farfetch. The deal concerning the Italian online fashion retailer was welcomed by analysts and Richemont shares were up 3.6% in afternoon trading.
Amazon has put the brakes on checkout-free stores
Amazon has put the brakes on the expansion of its UK checkout-free convenience stores, due to sales falling short of expectations and fit out costs being multiple times higher than with a standard location.

Snapchat & AR: new opportunities for retailers - particularly in fashion
Snap’s AR (augmented reality) technology enables consumers to virtually try on items such as clothing, make-up and accessories, visualising the exact size of products through the camera with ‘world object scale’.
Technologies like Snapchat’s body tracking and right fit feature ensures that clothing and products are specifically tailored for each Snapchatter’s body and face shape, while also representing the true size of the product to enable the right fit. Puma has been one of the first company to test this technology.

Deliveroo to leave Netherlands by the end of 2022
Deliveroo said it is active in 11 markets worldwide and achieves the most sales in places where it is number 1 or 2 in the market. The delivery company only gets 1 percent of its turnover in the Netherlands. “The company has determined that achieving and maintaining a top market position in the Netherlands requires a disproportionate investment with uncertain long-term returns,” Deliveroo said. Among the companies surprised about this decision there is the retailer Spar.
