In the midst of the Covid pandemic, my beautiful 15 year old at the time Michele, was diagnosed with acute Ulcerative Colitis. Little did we know how severe this silent condition could be, it changed Michele's life forever.

The extended hospital stays, the pain, the tears, the blood, the endless doctors visits and the treatments were just the start of this new life long journey that was not part of the plan.

?

Michele matured and emerged miraculously through the process. She shook herself up, kept on pace with school, and started blossoming.


Michele discovered this amazing foundation to help her cope with the situation. She has been elected as the rising star for the 2023 Crohn & Colitis foundation. Michele will be honored at the New Gala on November 13, 2023.


The Crohn's & Colitis foundation serves as a great network connecting patients and caregivers of all ages in addition to funding many research programs vital for better medication and devices.

The foundation has been founded in 1967. Currently, it has 44 chapters nationwide and more than 55,000 members.

Khalil, it's so heartbreaking that she has to endure this disease which can be debilitating; but also amazing to see her endure, challenge and cope with it with such grace. My warmest well-wishes to all of your family and kudos to the fighter!
