Researchers conducted an investigation into the impact of Crocetin (CRO) on the behavior of neural stem cells (NSCs) and the process of subventricular zone neurogenesis. The study yielded significant results, indicating that CRO played a pivotal role in enhancing the differentiation of NSCs into neurons. This effect was achieved through the activation of subventricular zone neurogenesis, particularly in areas of the damaged cortex and striatum. Importantly, these findings suggest that CRO holds promise as a therapeutic agent for repairing the damage caused by ischemic stroke, where promoting neuronal differentiation and neurogenesis are crucial mechanisms for functional recovery. The study underscores the potential of CRO in harnessing the regenerative capacity of NSCs to improve outcomes in stroke patients.
