Hello, brilliant minds!

Now, this isn't your average newsletter talking about the usual "best practices" or "hacks for higher conversion rates." Far from it.??

We're here to share something that we think is far more valuable: real, lived experiences and insights from CRO experts across the globe. They open up about the mistakes they've made and the lessons they've learned.

Here are some short summaries of select stories:

  • Once upon a time, Shiva Manjunath , a CRO expert and host of the From A to B podcast, decided to put a well-known 'best practice' to test. He realized that sometimes, best practices aren't exactly best for all. "Don’t think you can blindly follow these arbitrary “best practices” which lack context. Test them. You’d be surprised," – he says. There's one more story by Shiva – check it out.

  • Matt Scaysbrook , Director of Optimization at WeTeachCRO , tells us a story about that one time he wanted to impress his new client... and almost drowned in data. Turns out, there's such a thing as too much data. He learned the hard way that one should not set up a test without understanding how to analyze the data at the end of it. He still remembers this rule every time he runs a test.
  • Jonas Moe , Experimentation & Conversion Leader at TV 2 , changed just one word in the copy – and conversions skyrocketed. Try guessing how much – and check out his story to see if you maybe underestimated the power that one little word can have.
  • Deborah O'Malley , founder of GuessTheTest , recalled an instance when she did a huge website update and was reminded of the golden rule: Keeping your CTAs visible without scrolling, especially on mobile, can make a world of difference. So, remember folks, CTAs ABOVE THE FOLD. That's a best practice though – and you already know what to do with best practices, right? ??
  • Lucia van den Brink ?? , Founder at Increase Conversion Rate.com , stresses out that leaving out information can be hurtful. Information should be there for the users at the right time and place – and that drives conversions like nothing else.
  • Bryan Bredier ?? , Expert CRO Maiit , talks about how a client fired him for increasing conversion rate. Yes, turns out, even that can happen. This story has a happy end – read on to learn what happened afterwards.
  • J?rg Dennis Krüger , The Conversion Hacker, learned that trust, clarity, and reliability are paramount, sometimes outweighing purely aesthetic considerations. This holds true even for high-end fashion websites. While a sleek design can capture attention, it's the sense of trust and transparency that convinces customers to go from browsing to buying. Trust is a must!
  • Jonny Longden , Director of Digital Experience at Journey Further , reminds us that there is really no such thing as failure in experimentation — only opportunities to learn and grow. How so? Read his story to find out.
