CRM Students Spotlight on Cat Llewellyn, Client Management Director

Cat joined CRM in March 2017 as an Accommodation Manager, by April 2019 Cat’s potential and growth shone through and she was promoted to Head of Operations.??

Here are Cat’s thoughts on working for CRM Students…

What’s it like to work here??

CRM Students is a very inclusive and rewarding company to work for. The company benefits from enthusiastic, friendly, and forward-thinking individuals. Hard work is recognised and rewarded.

Like any company, there are challenges but there is definitely a sense of team spirit and support throughout. The company is lucky to have an abundance of knowledge throughout the company from the SMT to our skilled site teams. If you’re stuck, there’s always someone that has the answer or at least help you find a solution!

What opportunities have you been presented with??

"The experience as Head of Operations has been a rollercoaster of emotions and opportunities."

I’ve been very fortunate to be given lots of challenging and rewarding opportunities by CRM. Firstly, mobilising two schemes in 2017 and 2018, both of which were delivered late by the contractor, was a real experience and taught me a lot (quickly!) about the industry. Throughout these challenging times, I was provided with amazing support and reassurance from my Head of Operations and mobilisation team.

Following on from this, I was given lots of project work and additional responsibilities by my Head of Operations at the time, to give me an insight into the regional/field-based role more, as I was interested in this side of the business. I was flown to Glasgow for a week in January 2018 to support at a new site with systems and processes which was invaluable. This gave me the confidence and knowledge to apply for the Head of Operations role when it became vacant.

The experience as Head of Operations has been a rollercoaster of emotions and opportunities. I’ve met and worked with lots of varied clients, attended a Property Week conference, visited sites in Barcelona, travelled the UK to visit our sites, built working relationships with head office teams and probably much more I’ve not mentioned!

I’m now embarking on a new role as Client Management Director which I’m ecstatic to get stuck into. I’d be lying if I said that every aspect of our business is perfect, so I’m looking forward to being able to effect change that will hopefully benefit our site teams, head office teams, clients, and our students alike.

What do you like most about your role and CRM?

"Without good people, all we have left is a lot of processes and procedures that don’t make for a successful business!"

Above all, I mostly value the importance that CRM Students place on our people above all else. The success of our business is based on the people that are employed on our sites and in head office. Without good people, all we have left is a lot of processes and procedures that don’t make for a successful business!?

As far as my role is concerned, what I enjoy most about it is that it allows me to hopefully listen to feedback, work with departments from across the wider business to achieve positive changes to continue improving the business and ensuring that we retain good people and that those people continue to enjoy working for CRM Students.
