Criticism is an important aspect of life that shapes a human being. Criticism is being judged and being told about the mistakes that a person makes. As much as people hate being judged, they would never be successful if they aren’t criticized. What if criticism was an unknown term in this world? Everyone would do what they want to do, no one would point out the flaws in their work and the output will be miserable.

Critics are the best people to have around you. They may use harsh words which can demotivate you. But instead of feeling down, correct yourself and shut them up before they can say anything more. A couple of lines by the famous Indian poet Kabir Das suggest the following meaning. 

“Keep your critics close to you. Build a house for them in your own garden. Because, they are the ones who will cleanse your character without soap and water.”

When people keep reminding you, you will cleanse your character off of all flaws. The person who will remind you about it will be your critic. The next time a person criticizes you, remind yourself that they are telling you about things that you need to work on. Take it positively. People usually point out your mistakes to lower your self-esteem. But, they don’t know that they are actually making you a better person.

 There’s no harm in accepting indirect advice and working on yourself. It is actually a boon to have a person constantly getting under your skin but telling you what is wrong with your work so that you can eliminate your mistakes. That’s when you are the one who will get under their skin because they didn’t expect you to improve on yourself. The motive of a critic, according to them is to put you down. What they actually do is make you a better person.
