Critical ‘Technology Readiness Level (TRL)’ progress by Compella Compression
In April 2021 at the outset of the Accelerating Commercialisation project, having been tested at a small scale in a laboratory simulation of an operational environment, the Compella Compressor technology was at TRL 5. The first 12 months was spent delivering the significant amount of work required to advance the technology to TRL 6 – successful laboratory testing of a the Compella Compressor under full scale operational requirements. Successful completion of that work has now enabled the opportunity to tackle TRLs 7 and 8.

Field-testing and onsite demonstration of the Compella Compressor
Throughout the second half of the Accelerating Commercialisation project duration, Compella Compression has been preparing for the initial site deployment. It will involve supplying their trial partner with a complete CSG pump skid that has the Compella Compressor module integrated within it and can provide all wellhead mechanical processing requirements. The plant needs to operate continuously for one month, monitoring for an increase in gas pressure and flow to suit production requirements, for all parties to be satisfied the new technology has been successfully demonstrated.
