Complementary system vs conventional trifocal intraocular lens: comparison of optical quality metrics and unwanted light distribution

In this research study, an optical bench was used to obtain the optical quality of Artis Symbiose IOLs with polychromatic light and compare it with the one produced by a conventional trifocal IOL. Through-focus simulated visual acuity curves, point spread functions, and USAF images were also obtained and compared.

Clinical Outcomes of a new four-haptic hydrophobic presbyopia-correcting intraocular lens

This study aims to compare the optical performance of a PC-IOL that combines multifocal and EDOF technologies (ARTIS Symbiose) and a standard monofocal lOL (ARTIS PL E) both of them are made of the same material and the same company (Cristalens Industrie, Lannion, France).

Forty eight patients (96 eyes) were implanted with either ARTIS PL E (22 patients) or ARTIS Symbiose (26 patients). Authors compared their optical quality using VA assessment at different distances 6m, 66cm, 40cm and 33cm and distance corrected defocus curves both monocularly and binocularly at 3 months after surgery. They also used objective optical quality assessment metrics (OSI Objective scatter index, MTF Modulation transfer function, SR Strehl ratio) to compare the two lenses.
