A Crisis of Trust

AI has transformed our businesses, society, and communication like never before.?
AI has amazing capabilities but also introduces distrust or uncertainty into our everyday activities.
This uncertainty is creating a crisis of trust — we're not sure who or what we can trust anymore.
We are not sure if we can trust our politicians are doing what they are saying, we're not sure we can trust what the news is saying, and we're not sure we can trust what our friends, colleagues, and family are saying because the adoption of technology, deep fakes, and AI is leading to this incredible uncertainty about how we interact with each other and consume information.?
Amongst all of this confusion, there is an opportunity, particularly when it comes to our communication, to stand out as authentic.
LinkedIn is the primary platform that allows us to communicate openly and directly with a wider audience.
LinkedIn knows authenticity is key to creating meaningful interactions and continues to find ways to build that trust through its algorithm that promotes authentic conversations.?
This past year, we saw the ability to certify our identity with a verification badge on our profile. This badge indicates that we can confirm specific information about our account.?
Having verified information helps provide authenticity signals to others that we are who we say we are, and seeing verified information on others’ profiles helps foster a trusted community so we can make more informed decisions about connecting with other professionals.
On LinkedIn, we can interact with each other, knowing that the algorithm is not trying to spoof, lie to, distract, entertain, or raise our voices like so many other social media platforms do.?
On LinkedIn, we can use specific criteria to help us identify, recognize, and engage with people, more importantly, people with whom we want to do business who are professionals.
Using a platform like LinkedIn, particularly if you're in sales, allows you to establish legitimate conversations with your customers and fellow employees.
Being authentic on LinkedIn doesn’t mean not using AI — AI is an excellent tool if it is used well and maintains your authenticity.
I strongly urge you not to take shortcuts when building authenticity and trust. If you are using AI to write your online content, I recommend running it through GPT Zero first.
GPTZero
With GPTZero, one of my new favorite tools, you can upload text to determine whether a human, AI or a combination of the two wrote it.
More than ever, building authentic relationships and maintaining those connections is important.
Use this trust crisis as an opportunity for you to be authentic, stand out, and be recognized as someone who has something to say and share in such a way that it brings value to all of those around you.
(BTW, AI was used in portions of this post. Can you tell which parts?)
Here are some tools for you to consider when using AI and LinkedIn for your engagement:
领英推荐
ChatGPT4
ChaptGPT is the AI that started it all. They continue adding more features, including conversing with images or voice chat and sharing your chats.
Claud 2?
This AI allows you to analyze and summarize large PDFs. Claude can work over hundreds of pages of technical documentation or even a book.?
Canva
Canva is adding more AI tools to its platform, including an AI image generator and Magic Design, which allows you to manipulate and photoshop your images with AI.
Loom
I'm very much looking forward to adopting Loom this year. Loom helps you record better video messages with automatic titles and summaries, share messages, and more. You record, Loom AI does the rest.
Descript
Descript is a simple, powerful, and fun way to edit videos and podcasts.
LinkedIn themselves are introducing more AI tools liked
I want to thank Karine Abbou - PhD for the suggestions on AI. If you aren’t following her on LinkedIn, I strongly recommend you begin.
Conclusion
Trust is earned over time. As we deal with this crisis, realize that genuine communication and taking the time to engage with your customers, prospects, friends, and colleagues is the key to establishing and maintaining this trust.

1 年The authenticity piece is key for me. I love using AI to make the creation process more efficient, but when you can spot a Chat GPT post form a mile away...I cringe. Please don't lose your voice for the sake of "saving time" or because you don't have content writing skills. Learn how. Do better. And only share things that are in your own voice.

1 年? Richard Bliss thank you for the mention - I love this list which I’m pretty familiar with ?? and most of all I am glad you found those tools useful. The great thing with your list is that it’s what I call ??integrated AI??. We don’t reinvent the wheel, we are just pragmaticcally and humbly integrating AI in our daily work routine and workflow through the softwares we are already using. At the end of the day, whether you are a business owner or a marketer, getting started with AI is not that overwhelming: just start by using (playing with) the AI feature pretty much all marketing software have already integrated (at least the smartest ones). Than niche down and explore the features which were the most useful. Doing just that will help you realized that AI in your marketing is a little bit like freedom: once you start experiencing it, you can’t live without it ??.
