Children in Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank are facing the devastating impact of conflict. In this escalating crisis, they are witnessing unimaginable scenes, and their lives are being turned upside down.
Thousands of children have been forced to flee their homes, many have seen family members killed, their schools have closed, and children are experiencing distressing uncertainty about the future. ?
Racha Nasreddine, Right To Play Lebanon Country Director, said:
Right now, people are literally on the streets seeking safe spaces. There is no safe space in Lebanon at the moment. On every corner in Beirut, you can see families with their children waiting to access basic needs. Children are the most affected and vulnerable. We are facing multiple crises.
The latest available figures show that at least 200,000 people have already been displaced in Lebanon, with the number of individuals forced to abandon their homes rising sharply each day. Other recent data indicated that 35% of internally displaced people were children.
The impact of trauma and instability can have lasting consequences for children. The damage to their emotional well-being can stay with them throughout their lives.
With your help, we can ensure that children living through crisis have the psychosocial support they need to cope with stress and fear, find relief from the terrifying realities confronting them, and feel hope for the future.
We can also provide opportunities for children to learn and play, creating safe spaces where they can express normal childhood behaviours and continue their education.
We have been supporting children in Lebanon for nearly 20 years and our team is responding to the deteriorating situation in extremely challenging circumstances.
