Cried a Tad Paying Myself This Month + Doing Something Special...

Hey there,

Just wanted to share this vulnerable and really blissful moment I had this month.

So toward the start of every month, I pay myself a salary from my business account into my personal account.

If you don't do that already, you should. Not everything that comes into your business as in what you earn, is yours to keep. 

I learned this when I registered my business and got the two things separated- as in, me and my business.

So anyway...

As I drew my salary for this month, I got teary-eyed.

Because I went back in time...

I went back to the time when I started out as a copywriter- with nothing but dreams to make it work.

So that I will get to do what I love to do each day. I don't underestimate how privileged I am to get to do what I love to do each day.

Or to get to do what I chose to do and decided to do, each day- not all aspects of running a business are lovable.

But sometimes we forget to appreciate how far we've come, don't we?

As I went back to the time when I was trying to making things work- I wouldn't say I was trying to making ends meet- no, because, even then I was privileged to be staying with my parents (common in India for adults to stay with their parents).

I didn't have to figure out where I would sleep and what I'd eat.

But, I definitely had this pressure of doing something for myself. I've always been hard on myself and still am. I've got to tell you, I earned $142 for a couple months when I quit my job and started out. In January this year, I started making $5k consistently.

And so amid all the pushing myself to be better and do more, I forget to appreciate where I've reached.

But a few days ago, as I drew my salary out of the bank account, I felt it.

I felt this really deep sense of gratitude.

And I got emotional and tears welled up in my eyes. I've been in the desperate phase where I would just do my thing for an entire day/week/month and nothing would move in my business.

And today, I have clients coming in and I have to direct them elsewhere because I only take on so many one-on-one clients now.

Today, my business supports my aspirations, my needs, my lifestyle (I just got a separate apartment to set up my office in--which is what you see in my picture above).

None of this is to brag, trust me. But just a friend sharing a hearty moment with you!
