#loveletter 059 #flight #009
Last night, as I was scrolling through my Linkedin feed and engaging the content of some of those in the present cohort of my 20 day Linkedin growth program.
As I saw their content, I got reminded of when I started out here on Linkedin and I decided to go down to the first post I ever made.
I saw some funny things I must confess????!
This letter will be short but you won't forget it for a long time, so read till the end
This was the first thing I ever posted on Linkedin. I had just finished my internship at KPMG Nigeria and I decided to put out the content here.
Unsure of what I really wanted from the platform, I just decided to make the post and move on with my life. Not really caring about what anyone had to say (the likes and comments regardless).
You could see how many comments I had there.
Those were 7 Great comments to me at that time!
Two years later, I was celebrating 5000 followers on Linkedin.
With so much excitement in my heart, I created that post.
And with a post impression of about 3000, I had only 4 comments????
After all the advice and celebration I put into that post????
But, Oh well, I kept going.
There were days when I would pour my heart into a post, only to be met with resounding silence????.
I might be laughing now but it wasn't funny then!
Can you fathom the frustration of having a following of 5,000, yet receiving only four comments on a celebratory post? not a regular post o!
In this era, such a scenario might cause some people to abandon the platform in anger???? and say Linkedin people don't like them.????
However, I knew then, as I know now, that monumental achievements take time to construct. I also knew that the greatest buildings have the longest time spent on the foundation and so I ignored whatever negative emotions that came with those occurrences.
Today, it's not the same anymore and you can see.
A lot of people have had some stories of going viral etc but mine has just been consistent steps helped by God.
So this is for someone reading.
The hard truth is that you might never have a very viral post on Linkedin that might give you 20k followers in a matter of days, but I can assure you that if you decide to build a brand that will stand the test of time, God will crown your efforts with results.
My story should give you validation.

And I'm not speaking solely about LinkedIn but any other thing your hands have found to do. Whether it's a personal/business/corporate brand you are building,a marriage, an opportunity you are hoping to get...
Remain steadfast, even when the comments section echoes with silence and also be wise to take opportunities for training and pivot if there is something you are doing wrong. I spent money, time and energy on learning too!
Remember..
The greatest buildings have the longest time spent on their foundation.
The construction of Burj-Khalifa (Tallest building in the world) used?330,000 m3?(431,600 cu yd) of concrete?and 55,000 tonnes (61,000 short tons; 54,000 long tons) of steel rebar, and construction took 22 million man-hours. Total construction costs for the Burj Khalifa were reported to amount to?$1.5 billion.
Because of all these inputs, this building is well-known around the world today.
P.S You cannot reap influence where you haven't invested.
