Driving ?? back home from an interesting leadership meeting, I was listening to the cricket match on the radio ??. It was the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 - Australia vs India ??????????. Australia had scored over 450 runs ?? ♂?, but something about the match made me think.
Australia's captain, Pat Cummins, was playing with the last batsman, Scott Boland ??. Even though they had a big score, Cummins kept the play to himself, not letting Boland play much.
This reminded me of another Aussie captain, Steve Waugh ??????. He used to do things differently. In a 1999 match against New Zealand, Australia was in a tight spot. But Waugh, playing with the last man, Stuart MacGill, shared the play with him. He trusted MacGill and they won the match ??.
This got me thinking about how we work in our jobs. A good boss should be like Waugh. They should share tasks with their team, not do everything themselves.
If a boss does all the work, the team doesn't learn or grow. But if they trust their team with tough tasks, it might be hard at first, but the team will get stronger ??.
So, while I was driving and listening to the match ??, I learned something about being a good leader. Trust your team and let them handle tough things. They might surprise you!
Whether in cricket or at work, winning is about trust, teamwork, and helping each other ??????.
