Crestron & QSC, The Reflection

Video streaming boxes are the new standard for cable TV. In the consumer market you have: Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast and others. Also, for the professional market, there are different video streaming boxes too.?Two of those professional boxes are from Crestron and QSC. Marketing of those black boxes sometimes blurs the lines of reality.

When you look into a mirror and see your reflection, you are looking at history. An image of yourself that is some fraction of picoseconds in the pass. The light from your reflection must travel to and from the glass back. This transit time (extremely small) is a delay--latency.

Picosecond - is one trillionth, or one millionth of one millionth of a second, or 0.000 000 000 001 seconds.

Based on Crestron‘s marketing, the NVX has zero latency. Fundamentally, the laws of physics has been broken. In 2017 Crestron‘s marketing team introduced the NVX series with zero latency. Yes—the zero latency was marketing to promote the NVX platform.

?? Breaking news : Crestron “zero latency” NVX Series as just broken Ohm’s Law, Power Equation and can speed up electrons. - Facebook post from 2017.

Fast-forward a few years and now there are countless companies offering to stream video over the network. But there is one of those black boxes that stands out with a unique feature.

The NV-32-H (Core Capable) is a multipurpose, software-configurable video endpoint native to the Q-SYS Platform, offering two distinct operating modes to choose between, based on the needs of the application.?‘Core Mode’?transforms the device into a fully integrated Q-SYS processor with local HDMI switching capabilities.?‘Peripheral Mode’?allows multi-stream video encoding or decoding for network-based HDMI video distribution. Like all Q-SYS devices, the NV-32-H (Core Capable) offers native integration and control driven by the Q-SYS OS, simplifying setup?and configuration?while eliminating the need for advanced programming knowledge. With its Q-SYS Platform integration, you’re able to receive cryptographically-signed firmware updates, ensuring secure updates in functionality and security to your entire system.

I have not seen any marketing gimmicks from QSC about the NV.32.H. Perhaps this tells you the value of a device. Can it compare to competitors without those marketing gimmicks? The NV-32-H is superior to other video streaming black boxes and offers a design option for a complete ecosystem. The past two years has been a challenge. It has shown us the need to redefine the meaning of value engineering. Value engineering is more than taking parts away from the equipment list. Value engineering is optimizing the equipment list to provide the best value to the customer and the greatest profit to the dealer. With the NV-32-H able to operate as a processor (Core Mode) this expands the design flexibility and can provide greater value for customers and dealers.?Perhaps this is something to think about the next time you see your self in the mirror.

This is a short 10-second video that shows some custom video editing animation & touch panel designs I have produced in #Photoshop. When I made this ( #audiovisual ) touch panel theme, I reproduce the individual grain texture of wood. The style menu area complements the entire theme. https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/michaelshanehaynes_to-a-great-design-av-code-activity-6926358385554550784-2Fuq?utm_source=linkedin_share&utm_medium=ios_app Adobe
