1. From Greening to Skills and Beyond: we explored the State of Small European Film Markets with CresCine

Sten Saluveer (Storytek), Manuel Damasio (Lusofona University Lisbon), Jakob Isak Nielsen (Aarhus University), Marius ?fsti (Aarhus University) and Heritiana Ranaivoson (IMEC-SMIT/ Vrije Universiteit Brussel)

How are small European film markets faring? Where does the European industry stand in terms of skills, especially in the realm of innovation? What are the enablers and blockers for the industry’s transformation towards greening and sustainability? How can we contribute and learn from data-driven insights in financing and distribution?

Last November, the CresCine consortium sat down for the first large-scale conference of the program. In partnership with Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, CresCine was excited to share the first insights from the 36-month project, including the state of data-driven insights into film financing, initial findings on greening and sustainability impact, the state of Europe’s industry skills, performance, and much more. Consortium members Manuel Damasio (Lisbon Lusofona University, Portugal), Sten Saluveer (Storytek, Estonia), Heritiana Ranaivoson (Brussels SMIT-VUB, Belgium), Marius ?fsti (Aarhus University, Denmark), and Jakob Isak Nielsen (Aarhus University, Denmark) introduced the program and shared the first findings from CresCine, and it was a pleasure to exchange with the Industry on our small ecosystems and discuss challenges for small countries on the European market, best practices and the future of the European audiovisual industry with stakeholders.

Thank you again to the P?FF Festival and the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event for hosting our conference and roundtables, and now CresCine is already preparing to follow up on these insights for our next stop: Berlinale 2024!?
