4.?Where to meet us this September

And don't forget to follow us on Social Media!

1. The European Film Academy (EFA) board is restructuring for 2024: building?an equal voice for different parts of Europe in strategic decisions

The European Film Academy in Berlin, June 2023

CRESCINE member European Film Academy is shaking this up! The board meeting gathered last June in Berlin, and came up with a major decision: they are reshaping their voting system and will choose representatives from 15 European regions, but also including one transnational ethnic representative in the 19-member board, from either?the Sámi and/or Roma populations. This decision echoes one of the core goals of CRESCINE towards diversity increasing and fair representation. Here are a few facts about the Academy:?

  • The Chair and Deputy Chairs of the Academy's board?do?not represent any region or population in their function
  • This board's President (honorary title) is traditionally a filmmaker. Agnieszka Holland has held the title since 2021, following Ingmar Bergman and Wim Wenders.?
  • The Academy will go from?25% of the board members representing all 30 Eastern and Southeastern European countries to 50% of the board seats.

Find out more about the countries that the Academy works with and who count amongst the most prestigious and talented members below:

2. September?reads: Nordic countries shining in Toronto and Denmark's Youths' media habits

Now, let's dive into the Nordic competitiveness all the way at the?Toronto Film Festival?and into Danish media habits.

The Dead Don't Hurt, by Viggo Mortensen, 2023

Amongst the many exciting titles to be screened, Denmark, one of CRESCINE's small ecosystems, is represented through?co-productions?About Dry Grasses, by Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan and?The Dead Don’t Hurt by?Viggo Mortensen, to name only a few.
