School year is over and it is time to wrap up our first trimester at CresCine! So, as the heat advances and holidays approach, let's slow down and savor good news, insightful?reads, and exciting events!

1. What's up in our ecosystems?
Exciting news at FilmEU!
A lot has been going on in our ecosystems...
Firstly, congratulations are in order: FilmEU, the European University dedicated to the cultural and creative industries, is thrilled to announce the allocation of €12.8 million in funding from the European Commission!?
A few facts about this Alliance:?
1. Its initial consortium consists of 4?institutions, 3 of them also members of CresCine: Lusófona University from Portugal (leader of the Alliance), IADT - Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology in Ireland and TLU and?Tallinn University, in Estonia (Luca School of Arts in Belgium being FilmEU's fourth member).
2. FilmEU responded to?the call by the European Commission to deepen, expand, and intensify existing cooperation. And expand they did from 4 to 8 members!
3. This allocation and new partnership further strengths Europe's position as a global leader in education, research, and innovation in cultural and creative industries.

P?FF at Karlovy Vary Film Festival
Our CresCine member and?P?FF Head of Industry?Marge Liiske is participating in the?Karlovy Vary Film Festival as one of the jury members at First Cut+!
First Cut+ was launched in 2020 for?boosting the promotion & audience engagement strategies?of feature films that previously took part in a First Cut Lab workshop.?
8 feature films will be promoted at Karlovy Vary IFF’s Eastern Promises Industry Days:?filmmakers will benefit from lectures,?individual mentoring and much more.?
Baltic Film & Creative Tech Cluster joins?The American?chamber of Commerce in Lithuania
Congratulations?to our CresCine member?Baltic Film & Creative Tech Cluster (BFTC), who is?now a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania!
BFTC is a?leading business cluster based in Lithuania, that works with major film, media, digital art, immersive reality and game companies both domestically and in neighboring regions, to make Lithuania a leading producer of audiovisual content and products in the East and Central Europe. They?work?with more than 80 companies that operate in film, immersive reality and gaming sectors.?
And now, they are joining a prestigious list of more than 130 corporate members,?showcasing their?commitment to fostering strong business connections and promoting growth in the Lithuanian market!
2. Summer reads: Industry and Academia, Denmark and Belgium
Now, let's enjoy two good thought-provoking reads on two "CresCine?friendly" matters, matters that are also covered in our work packages: green certification in the European Film Industry and streamers' investments obligations.
SF Studios’ film?Cychosis?is the first Danish film to collect the very coveted Green Film certificate
Cutting its CO2 emission by around 45 per cent, the supernatural thriller directed by Kari Vid? used?the Green Film system as a basis for earlier eco trainings".
Cychosis, based on Birgitte Lorentzen’s book of the same name, is co-produced by Finland’s genre specialists Don Films, with support from the Danish Film Institute, the Finnish Film Foundation, Nordisk Film & TV Fond and TV2 Denmark.?
Interview of Ivana Kostovoska, researcher?at Brussels’ IMEC-SMIT-VUB?and co-author of a recent study on “Netflix taxes” as tools for supporting European audiovisual ecosystems.

3. Highlight on: Filmby Aarhus
Get to know one of our core partners at CresCine : Filmby Aarhus, Denmark
Today, we are introducing one of our 15+ consortium partners, all the way from Scandinavian region Denmark: Filmby Aarhus!
The film and TV organization Filmby Aarhus (directly translated Movie City Aarhus)?runs a cluster of +80 companies in movie production, TV production, gaming and XR - all placed in a central area of the city of Aarhus, in the Western part of Denmark.
Filmby Aarhus manage the physical business park with all its buildings, offices and film studios and also a wide range of industry development projects. Such as The West Danish Film Fund, providing financial support for film production, a game developer and film industry incubator, a laboratory for new technologies, as well as participating in various EU projects for the benefit of the national and international film industry.
In CresCine, the consortium has the pleasure of collaborating with, notably:?
Theresa Valb?k is primarily working with projects spreading the use of new technologies in the film and TV business.?Her main task is running their special tech lab MiXR. She is also an experienced executive producer, with a wide range of programs in her portfolio.
Ditte Brun? S?ndergaard, also works as project manager and coordinator in Filmby Aarhus. Since 2018, alongside the festival director, she has been responsible for the festivals THIS and AARHUS SERIES - focusing on future stories and engagement.?
Kirsten Langgaard, anchor person of Filmby Aarhus’ project portfolio: she is currently managing their contributions to CresCine and Innovationskraft (under the Danish Board of Business Development).
Jon Blandfort, has more than 15 years of experience in public, financial management. He has been Financial Manager on several EU funded projects e.g. under the Interreg Programs.
4. Meet us in September?
Summer will have to come to an end, but back to school also means that?many exciting travels and events will be around the corner!
