Simply paying a collection account will not remove it from your credit report or improve your credit score. Even after paying your collection, the account can be reported for 7years from the date you first fell behind on your payments.?
?As long as a collection account is listed on your credit report, it will negatively impact your scores.?
?One way to remove a collection is to dispute it! Just DON'T DISPUTE ONLINE ?????♀? You waive several of your rights given to you in the Fair Credit Reporting Act when you dispute online AND if you do have items deleted don't be surprised if they reappear. Online disputes are not always PERMANENT DELETIONS.
The key is to IDENTIFY ANY Errors in the way a collection is listed on your credit report. Trust me, errors are common. Your dispute is not based on whether you owed the debt, but it’s based on reporting errors.
