Credibility is currency. Hard to earn, easy to lose.

It's the little things that can unintentionally unravel hard work building credibility and reputation. Here are 5 credibility crushers high performing EAs avoid.
1. Not delivering on commitments and promises
Most people are understanding when things happen and work is derailed - if handled appropriately. Manage expectations before being followed up. This builds credibility rather than eroding it.
2. Saying sorry without good reason
If it wasn't your mistake, if it isn't from genuine empathy - lose it. Many women apologise unnecessarily, out of habit. The result: giving others the sense they're constantly doing something wrong.
3. Using wishy washy, submissive language
This undermines contribution and value and minimises the impact of the message.
Can I just....
I hope you don't mind....
I just wanted to....
Actually I....
Am I making sense.....
It's kind of like....
Be clear, strong and definite in both written and verbal communications for greater impact.
4. Being unprepared
Prepare and plan the same way executives do. Read materials. Have questions.
5. Not asking for help or admitting to not yet understanding something
Asking for help regardless of tenure and experience shows maturity, curiosity and a willingness to learn and grow. When we don't admit where we need guidance or help we're missing development opportunities and stay stuck in the cycle of playing it safe and small.
I'd love to know - which credibility crusher do you struggle with?
Which unhelpful habits have you worked hard to improve the way you show up at work?
(Confession: I was once a rampant "just" user and sorrier).
