Creativity May Stave Off Dementia

Creativity May Stave Off Dementia

A new study by the Mayo Clinic's National Institute on Aging shows that creativity (novelty, "doing something different from your day job") may stave off dementia.

Creative arts therapies have long been used to foster deep personal growth and community development, express difficult emotions, facilitate growth and promote change through the utilization of the arts. All of these treatment goals stem from one thing. . . creativity.

Creative arts therapists use a variety of artistic modalities to apply theoretically based clinical interventions for clients of multiple settings, diagnoses and backgrounds; counseling their clients through the arts. This field truly provides the means for client and clinician to venture into the the creative journey.
