The Creativity Hack I Wish I Knew Sooner

Ever sat down to create something—write, design, brainstorm—and ended up staring at a blank screen? Yeah, same.

Welcome to Another Edition of The One Thing Newsletter with TechBabe!

But before we get into it… February is ending in just 4 days! How has this month been for you?

For me? Mehhh. You know, not so great. ?? I didn’t exactly achieve everything I planned (the ones within my control at least), but hey, that’s life too. We move!

What about you?

?? Super Cool!

?? Neutral – Just there.

?? We do better tomorrow.

Alright, now let’s jump right in!

One Thing I’m Doing

I’m learning not to be too hard on myself when things don’t go as planned. Instead of beating myself up, I try to stay calm, do a few breathing exercises and reflect—not overthinking the problems tho, but on what happened and led to how I’m feeling.

Surprisingly, this simple routine helps me figure out what’s actually wrong and if possible, how to fix it.

Fun fact? I’ve started telling myself: “MY LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.” Anytime I feel overwhelmed or exhausted, I say it—even if it feels ironic at that moment. ??

Because one thing I won’t do? Speak negativity over my life just because of a temporary situation that’ll soon become a memory. Nahh can’t be me!

One Thing I’m Learning: How to Be More Creative

Ever sat down to create something—write, design, brainstorm—and ended up staring at a blank screen? Yeah, same.

Anyways recently, I came across something mind-blowing. Apparently, Ed Sheeran, Neil Gaiman and John Mayer all use the same method to generate hit after hit. And no, it’s not some mystical “creative genius” thing. It’s actually really simple:

The Creativity Faucet Method

Think of your brain like a clogged pipe. The first ideas that come out? They’re messy, cliché—even cringe. But you have to flush them out before the good stuff starts flowing.

That’s where most people (including me!) go wrong—we stop too early, thinking we’re “not creative enough.” Meanwhile, the pros keep going until their brains are forced to dig deeper.

And guess what? I believe it does works. Our brain naturally starts filtering out bad patterns and suddenly, fresh and better ideas start showing up. Would you like trying this out?

And if you want to take it further?

There’s another trick called The Juxtaposition—mixing unexpected things together. Ever wondered why the most interesting music, movies or businesses feels different? It’s because someone combined ideas that shouldn’t fit—but somehow do fit.

The bottom line? I am learning once again that creativity isn’t about waiting for inspiration. It’s about pushing past the bad ideas until the good ones show up. The question is Are we even patient enough?

Anyways what do you think? Have you ever tried this before? Let me know!

P.S. If you want a deeper dive, check out Julian Shapiro’s full breakdown [here]. It’s worth it, Tribeee!

One Thing You Should Try: A Monthly Evaluation

With February ending, now’s the perfect time to check in with yourself. Are you still aligned with your 2025 goals? Or… wait, do you even have goals? ??

If not, no worries—it’s only the second month. It’s never too late. Unless, of course, you’re fully committed to vibing through life without purpose. ??

But seriously, take a few minutes to reflect. What worked this month? What didn’t? What small change can you make in March to get closer to your goals?

Amazing Update, Tribeeee! ??

This edition marks THREE WHOLE MONTHS of The One Thing newsletter! Can you believe it? We’ve grown to 500+ subscribers across LinkedIn and Substack—like, what???!

We are 3months old, How exciting!

For someone who usually stops things halfway (lmao), I’m honestly so proud that I’ve shown up every Sunday at midnight to write this. And the best part? The feedback has been amazing. Thank you for being here with me. ??

New Update: Let’s Pick a Monthly Theme!

I initially planned to celebrate this milestone in a big way, but let’s save that for the six-month mark. Instead, I had a thought—what if we choose a theme for each month?

Each edition will be centered around that month theme, making things more structured and intentional. Sound good to you?

Now, I need your help. What’s a theme you’d love me to write about in March? Nothing comes to mind yet but if you have an idea, hit reply and let me know!

Now, It’s Your Turn!

Tell me:

?? One thing you’re doing

?? One thing you’re learning

?? One thing you think I should try

?? And of course—a theme suggestion for March!

Once again, THANK YOU for reading The One Thing newsletter. Like, share with pals and comment your thoughts here, I really love hearing from you, so don’t be a stranger! And until next week… Go break a leg. (But if you get in trouble, don’t mention my name. ??)
