Creativity
Understanding True Creativity.
Creation comes from the old French word ‘creacion’ which means,?come into being, or originate… out of nothing. So not derived or based on? what is already existing or known.?
What is generally considered as is to make a new physical thing…..new painting, new kind of music, literature (fact or fiction), architecture, invention, or some of the marvellous technologies..... Making something new is by modifying what is existing, or?continuing from previous experiments and adding on to it. Few talented or gifted people, using their knowledge, and imagination (also based on knowledge) develop their own style and consider themselves creative. We? all seem to?agree with them because we don’t have their talent.
Now Is that really creative? Is creativity merely an expression of talent? or is there a different kind of creativity…an action that is free from the known?
From childhood, we are conditioned to conform, adjust to a pattern … ideology, tradition, culture, organization, society…, or accept the authority of our own knowledge, beliefs, experience…As a result, we are always acting from our conditioning, past experience, knowledge,motives,conclusions....and so all our actions are invariably mechanical in nature. Occasionally when we have an insight about something, we compare, judge, or evaluate it, based on our prejudices, personal motives or past knowledge, and conclude...., and act from that conclusion….thus ending the insight. How can a mind that lives in conformity, and always living in the past and thinking about oneself....my desires, my ambition, my family, my hurts, my guilt....be creative ?
Creativity is the quality of the mind to be free or alone….so does not belong to any ideology, culture, organization .....,does not conform to?social or economic pressures,to a motive, or to one's own knowledge, beliefs, or past experiences. When you?set these aside or do not allow it to interfere with your perception…so no comparison, judgement or evaluation..... there can be insight and creative action…and from that action there are more insights. Such a mind is always learning and can be creative in the true sense of the word.
In ancient times, many cathedrals, temples, mosques were built…some of them extraordinarily beautiful.?No one knows who built them. Working in anonymity, the quality of people was different. They were only?concerned with their work... building, writing (bible, gita..)… and not worried about selling?1million copies in 10 months, or to become famous….. Because there was no personal motive to achieve or become something, it is with a?feeling of freedom that they were acting....
But now with us anonymity is almost gone. All those involved.. ?be it the legendary artists and musicians of yesteryears or the brilliant technologists of today...,lead a mediocre life like the rest of us. Seeking identity, power, position, fame, they are anxious, envious, greedy, insecure. Caught in various kinds of pressures and demands, they live in conflict daily… with their wives or husbands, with colleagues, with society…, and have no relationships with anyone. Probably the tension and conflict in their life may be the reason for the expression of?their talent. They show up well dressed and speak eloquently....and we admire or even worship them and wish we could have some of their talent.?

How can a mind that is fragmented and full of conflict and contradiction (say something and do something) be creative ?
In anonymity there is great beauty
Anonymity and humility has great importance in creativity. When you do not seek identity, it is easy to say ' I don't know'...which can then bring about a sense of discovery and learning.
It is good to hide your brilliance, to love what you are doing and not to show?off. It is good to be kind without having your photograph to appear in the newspapers, or have politicians run after you.....You are then just a?creative human being living anonymously, and in that there is great richness and beauty.
Clearly, creativity is not the domain of the few. Everyone can be creative. If you are not ,you are bound to compare, conform,? accept authority and live a self centred and miserable life....always escaping from problems!
