Creativity and Fabulous: Why Settle for Anything Less?

Creativity and Fabulous: Why Settle for Anything Less?

Today, I attended our annual Management Trainees and Apprentice Awards. One word stood out above all others:

FABULOUS.

I’m not talking about the glamour, style and the speeches, all of which were fabulous. It’s the fact that ‘Fabulous’ was actually in the room in the ideas, the energy, and the people.

But what does it take to truly be fabulous?

Here are a few thoughts:

What is it?

For me fabulous is unmistakable. It’s confidence, effort, and originality coming together. It is something that WOWs you in the same way that seeing something truly creative makes you feel.

It’s not about perfection, it’s more about personality. It’s probably easier to say what it’s not. Fabulous is not ordinary, regular or expected.

How to be fabulous!?

To be fabulous, you need creativity. Of course you do! You also need courage. Fabulous things, people and ideas stand out because they take risks.

Ask yourself:

  • What am I doing that no one else is?
  • Am I showing up fully, or holding back?
  • Am I aiming for good, great or fabulous?

Fabulous isn’t only about being the best, although that does help. It’s about being memorable.

?

What’s Stopping You?

In one word: You. Universally, every Management Trainee or Apprentice had overcome obstacles, grown in self-esteem, respect and confidence. They had overcome themselves to enable themselves to become fabulous.

Without doubt Fear is the biggest obstacle. Fear of failure. Fear of judgment. Fear of being different. Fear of being wrong. Which is why their Mentors are so critical. A fabulous Mentor reduces fear, protects you from fear and brings it out into the open to be dealt with.

In truth? No one remembers “safe.” Fabulous thrives on boldness.

If something’s stopping you, face it head-on. Ask yourself: What’s the worst that could happen? Then go for it anyway.

?

Why/How Do You Sell It?

On the way home, I was thinking is fabulous enough on it’s own?

It should be, but it’s not. Like the tree falling on the forest, if no one hears it, did it happen?

Fabulous needs an audience.

It’s not just about being fabulous, it’s about showing others why it matters. Fabulous for fabulous sake borders on self-indulgence. It needs to add value.

Here’s how:

  1. Clarity: Be clear about what makes your idea, product, or approach fabulous.
  2. Confidence: Believe in it. If you don’t, why should anyone else?
  3. Connection: Know your audience, speak their language, tell them the story.
  4. Communication: If I hadn’t attended today all that fabulousness would have passed me by. Yes, I’ll like the Linkedin posts about it, but does it go in the fabulous box – No, I think not.

When you’ve got fabulous, share it like a gift.

?

The Winners.

The winners at today’s ceremony didn’t just achieve success—they owned it. They weren’t just talented; they were fabulous.

·?????? They dared to dream big and all exceeded their expectations

·?????? They understood their strengths and built on them and they overcame their weaknesses.

·?????? They inspired others with their passion.

·?????? They weren’t afraid to ask questions.

·?????? They all asked for help when they needed it.

?Huge congratulations to them all - Well done, you were all fabulous.

How Do You Get to fabulous?

Never settle for “good enough.”

Because fabulous isn’t just a word. It’s a mindset.

??CTA - What will you do today to bring a little more fabulous into your life and work?
