I wanted to write today about the future, the potential of new partnerships and initiatives I was about to support. And yet, after being blessed with a very cold shower yesterday afternoon, I changed my mind. Don't be fooled, I detest cold showers, and after each one, I find myself returning to basics: donning warm socks and focusing on what I can do and influence presently.
However, today's discussion will diverge from this. Today, I want to reflect on education, creativity, and AI, three crucial topics that may lead us into a chokehold if we don't address them promptly. This is particularly pertinent as tomorrow, I will be speaking on these topics at an event.
Below are a few ideas I've been mulling over in relation to education, creativity, and AI:
1. Education: It's not rocket science to recognize that education in the form that is delivered now doesn't bring much value to the children. I can imagine that the system itself is still very comfortable because changes require commitment, willingness to experiment and fail, and trust.?
Trust that our contribution to this change will yield long-term value. Short-term thinking does not serve anyone.
2. Creativity: This is undoubtedly a crucial skill for the future (or even the present). It's not just about recognizing our inherent variety of creative abilities waiting to be unleashed through supportive education but also acknowledging that true innovation is impossible without creativity.
We desperately need breakthrough innovations in our societies to address local and global challenges from different perspectives. If we don't tap into our creative potential and flex our creative muscles, we risk producing average students who adhere to a failing system destined to crumble sooner rather than later. I don't wish to sound overly dramatic, but recent developments in the banking industry only highlight this recurring cycle of a century-old phenomenon.
3. AI: Say what you will; I don't see AI disappearing anytime soon due to certain fears about it. We must confront the gray areas of AI and its potentially dangerous implications. We need to have this conversation and ensure, as far as possible, that AI will not be wielded against us and humanity.

And having education in mind: instead of asking ourselves how we can ensure that students don't use ChatGPT for their essays, maybe we can stop giving the endless assignments and start teaching them during school hours: dialogue & healthy debate, ethics and transparency, loyalty and commitment, intellectual and cultural understanding and communication, compassion, etc.
This, coupled with some of the existing and new methodologies of designing solutions will change the world within a generation.
Well, what are your thoughts on the above?
My work wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of my mentors (if you want to get to know them, write me a pm), sponsors of this newsletter, and partners. Thank you!
