Creativity In Context

Creativity comprises intelligence and imagination. It is the ability to give rise to new, novel ideas, and concepts. All of us are born with some innate amount of this ability and in most cases school teaches it out of us, making us obedient and conforming. Hence uncreative.?

Our mind, mainly, oscillates between two states.?

Alpha or relaxed, for creation

Beta or focused, for chiseling

Alpha mode is conducive to the creation of new concepts and focus mode is favorable to chiseling the concept into refinement and nuance.

A new idea is like a bridge between two nodes. Neurons literally, bio-chemically forged links when concept forms.?

In a way, that is all there is to it.

Making new connections. Period.

Grab any two ideas, for nonstarters, and mash them together. The conglomeration is a new idea.?

You don't have to create wheel and word and watch and wisdom and wit and wine and wizardry and witchcraft again.

Those things already exist, in one way or another.?

Connect any two or three or four or thirteen or any other number that you believe is your lucky number, and you have slithered out of your slough.?

Do you have to be an weird to be creative? I wonder? No. Or yes. It depends.

By their very nature, creative people are rebellious and whacky.?

The only voice they listen to is the voice that whispers inside their heads.

And, at times, they don't even listen to it.

The 'F**k Authority' attitude of creative people makes them unfit for any normal routine task.

The only prerequisite for creativity is vulnerability and honesty. And also a great deal of authenticity.?

They say what they feel, shamelessly almost always.?

It is funny in an awful way. What they do is.

From them, time bends and stretches as if it is not a mental construct but a rubber band.

Doing new things, things that scare the shit out of you slows time to a crashing halt. Do more and you have more time.?

A trick of life, of physics, or better of metaphysics, time favours the prepared. So does fortune.

Do epic shit! I can't emphasize more.

'How to court criticism?'

As is usual, the first reception any new idea can receive is that of cold criticism.

People out there are crippled by their reasonably impossible notion of the Perfect.

And the Right.

And the Proper.

And the Appropriate.

And the?Whatever.

Creatives, on the other hand, prefer perseverance, practice, praxis, and punchy, poetic, and pleasurable prose.

Anything less than perfect comes across as substandard to people. Fuck 'em.?

But, What about this appalling critic inside?

Listen to it, it is never right.

Anyway, Just don't think about it. That's all.

Some specks of advice are in order:

Improvise and your frontal cortex will have less time to inhibit the flow and outstream will ideas that don't exist before.

Flirt with Risk as if it is sexy as fuck.

Be adventurous.?

No risk is risky.

Life is unfear.?

What I mean is not misspelt unfair but the opposite of fear.

Fear insinuates life with a world of possibilities.

Look out for a chance.

Serendipity births serendipity.

Produce ideas that have value to someone.

Reach into your memory pot, pull out a thread, tie it with an ordinary idea that you have heard someone already has done, and do it your way.

Reach again back down into the cauldron, draw out the memory string, see, look, and peruse how and where you can dovetail it into the special and crazy idea. Make, by the force of your will, something leap out of it.

Something shining, thrilling, and titillating.

Hey, Abed. Your writing style is quite poetic. In all honesty, I had a challenging time comprehending a few sentences, but I understood what you conveyed - gladly. I definitely agree with the notion that a few schools suppress our creativity. They compel students to work the "same way," which destroys their individuality and creativity. I also heavily agree that creative individuals are unconventional and hate conforming to authority and society. Yes, they're honest and authentic. Perhaps these traits polish their creativity. And your mention of criticism makes sense too. But to create epic sh**, we must be willing to take risks. Anyway, thank you for sharing this. I look forward to your articles! This was a good read.
